2,000 New Gift Items on Amazon.com, New Engraving Machine & More!

July 23, 2008

We recently added around 2,000 new items to Amazon under our newest brand name, West Coast Gifts.  The new products can be found in both the Home and Garden and Office categories on Amazon.com.  The new collections feature hundreds of items from photo frames to desk sets ranging in price from $9.99 on up.

The new collections will be the first items on West Coast Jewelry’s newest website, WestCoastGifts.com, currently under construction with a scheduled launch date of September 2008.  The site will launch with almost 5,000 gift items and will be cross categorized by product and event for easy user navigation.  The release will also coincide with a redesign of WestCoastJewelry.com, the home page of West Coast Jewelry.  While some gift products carried on WestCoastJewelry.com will be also featured on WestCoastGifts.com such as cuff links and key chains, the West Coast Gifts items will be offered for sale exclusively on the WCG site.

West Coast Jewelry is also pleased to announce that all items including the new giftware line are engravable!  For the first time ever WCJ will be offering engraving services for both the inside and outside of rings as well as flat items such as business card cases, keychains, dog tags and more!  The purchase of our new Gravograph engraving machine with diamond tipped engraver will allow us to engrave on all metals including our exclusive Tungsten Tough Collection!  We are very excited to be opening a new business segment for corporate gifts with personalization and engraving services on thousands of products.  Call us for more details at ( 888 ) WCJ-0080 if you are interested in affordable personalized corporate gifts.  A new website geared towards marketing our products towards the corporate community is currently in discussions.

Lastly, we are in the final stages of design for a new Tungsten Carbide watch line that we hope to launch for this year’s holiday season.  The new line will feature between 8-12 designs with scratch resistant Tungsten Carbide casings and bands.  More information will hopefully be coming soon about the collection and we hope to launch the watch collection officially in October 2008 simultaneously on Amazon.com and Overstock.com.  More to come…

Here come the tumbleweeds

April 9, 2008

It’s been only 3 days since my last post, and already I’m starting to feel anxious. I just read an article today that a few bloggers died of massive heart attacks and that’s definitely not the end result I want for this blog. So I’ve decided this blog is going to take on a much more informal attitude. Ahhh, now THAT feels better.

We’re working on our spring seasonal emails right now which will feature this blog and ask our customers to sign up to get updates by e-mail. I think this is the easiest way to spread the word about 1 day only sales like free shipping, buy 1 get 1 free and those types of deals . Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day and Graduation season are all coming up, its the perfect storm of jewelry shopping online.

I’d also like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to contribute to this blog. We’d ideally like a West Coast Jewelry customer, someone who knows us and what we’re all about. We’d love comments about your favorite products that we sell, including products you’ve purchased, why you love them, etc. If that sounds interesting to you please email info@westcoastjewelry.com.

This just in… New shipments of Tungsten Carbide, Titanium and Stainless Steel Rings are on the way and should be online in the next 2 weeks. We’re VERY excited about this since we’re bringing in new designs that nobody has EVER done before! I’ve been spending a pretty penny trying to compete with the big boys with Google Ads and in selected categories it’s paying off, we do have some of the lowest prices on Tungsten and Titanium on the internet which doesn’t hurt either.

Sexy Investment… Silver Markets Gone Wild!

March 31, 2008

Sterling silver jewelry has always made up the majority of our products and sales. 6 month silver marketsWe had to raise prices earlier this year and some of our customers took note. I wanted to share some insight into the silver markets here since it’s very interesting stuff, at least to us!

This first chart shows that in the last 6 months we had prices of $14 per ounce as late as December climb to over $20 per ounce as of last week. Many of us in the fashion jewelry industry breathed a big sigh of relief this week when prices came back down a bit, but that 43% increase in 3 months was a big shock to us.

1 Year Silver ChartIf you look at the second chart here you’ll see that we’ve seen more fluctuation in the first 3 months of 2008 than we saw in the entire year of 2007. Much of this is to do with the weakening dollar and uncertain economy, but that’s not even the most surprising news when it comes to recent activity in the silver markets.

5 Year Silver ChartTake a look at this third graph, the 5 year historical silver chart. Yes, just last week silver prices were 500% higher than the same time 5 years ago! That’s absolutely amazing, not even real estate during its most lucrative times jumped so high so fast. Gold prices in March ‘03 were around $320/oz and last week were in the neighborhood of $950/oz, a 300% increase, but still not quite the 500% jump silver took. The increased global demand for silver has really impacted the markets.

That silver jewelry you once bought on the beach in Mexico really may be worth cashing in on, it may be worth more thank you think!

No Sales Tax Outside California

March 31, 2008

No Sales Tax

Just a reminder that WE DON’T CHARGE SALES TAX OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA!  We posted this new banner on our website today as a visual reminder for our visitors and thought it would be good to also note here.

Although we are based in one of the highest sales tax districts in the country, most of our customers are out of state. Just one more thing to remember when considering going to the local mall or shopping on our site for your next gift. Granted, we do have shipping charges, however with many of our larger items, including our luxury pearl collection, that tax savings can make a real difference on your bottom line!

Up and Running!

March 27, 2008

And….. we’re off! Why does WestCoastJewelry.com need a blog? That’s a good question, and no, I may not have an answer anytime soon. But in the meantime I hope to use this to discuss special offers and promotions, new jewelry styles and exciting happenings with us. If you haven’t checked out www.WestCoastJewelry.com yet please do so, and let us know if you have any great ideas for future blogs!
